Accessible parking downtown (Town of Chapel Hill)A valid ADA plate or hanging placard is required (issued by NCDMV, not the Town). Placard holders can park in any Town-operated hourly-paid public space downtown with no time limit and no payment, except in gated facilities; the 125 East Rosemary Deck's metered accessible spaces do require payment. Chapel Hill Transit: fare-free busesThe Town's buses are fare-free; the Transit App gives real-time tracking, alerts and trip planning. EZ Rider paratransit (visitors included)For people whose permanent or temporary disability prevents them from using the fixed routes. Service area: Chapel Hill, Carrboro and areas within three-quarters of a mile of the bus network. Visitors with ADA paratransit eligibility elsewhere may ride up to 21 days in a 365-day period with documentation. Morehead PlanetariumThe main entrance has a ramp, handrails and push-button door entry, with accessible parking directly in front. Free assistive-listening headsets, first-come, requested at least 15 minutes before a program; closed captioning for fulldome shows. Ackland Art MuseumAn elevator serves all floors and there is one single-user wheelchair-accessible restroom. The front entrance ramp is reached from the driveway off Columbia Street; the doors have no automatic openers, but front-desk staff help visitors in. Two accessible spaces are in the Porthole Alley lot (enter off S Columbia St between the Ackland and Top of the Hill); a valid University or DOT disability placard or plate must be displayed. NC Botanical GardenVisiting and parking are free. The Garden says most paths at the main garden meet the ADA standard for garden and park settings, but some older paths do not; a color-coded map shows which.
